say The Holy Ghost is everywhere, but more likely
it is the listening devices of The Lord's Guard or the Priests! You
know, they wanted to transfer me to another school, but I forbade it.
We start our real education next year, and I want us to learn side by
side, for our destinies are together."
48 North smiled. "I agree!" he answered, putting his hand on his
friend's shoulder in the Hashon style.
49 North's parents finally returned and they headed home. Morn said his
good-byes to the family on the roof of their apartment house, and with
his escort he winged across the city. North and his parents flew down
to their apartment but his father stopped North from entering. He
reached for North's tunic and removed the bottommost gold bar from his
Church Emblem. "Today you are one step closer to manhood, and have a
proud and happy father!"
50 They entered the apartment and had a quick meal, then went to bed,
for they were all weary. Morn's Bodyguard, who was his personal friend,
removed his bar for him, and fastened it beneath his picture on the
family altar as was the Tradition.
51 Morn then told his mother all he had seen in The Tombs. He was
already angry that he would never be able to take her there, as
Hashons, even one who was the wife of The Lord God, were not permitted
there.
52 His mother cautioned him on retaining anger. "Let it go, do not let
it steal your reason. Learn to accept the things you can't change, and
change the things you can." Morn took her counsel, as he always did.
