Morn put the computer chips in his viewer. The
first one was called "LIGHT; THE DIVINE HISTORY OF SPIRIT. THE HASHON'S
SACRED WRITINGS." The second was, "THE LAWS AND STATUTES OF THE HASHON
REPUBLIC: A SPEAKER'S GUIDE." The
third was a miniature library containing one-hundred Hashon books
translated to Goddek. There was poetry, philosophy, anything Hashon
Morn would need, and every bit of it illegal.....certain death to be
caught with!
35 Morn put two of the chips back into the secret compartment, but put
the Sacred Writings back in the viewer and began to read. The next
morning he was awoken by his day guard coming on duty. Morn would be
glad when he reached Academy and would no longer have a shadow wherever
he went. He suddenly realized that he had fallen asleep reading! The
incriminating chip was still in the viewer, but the viewer had
automatically shut off when it had received no command to advance after
several minutes.
36 Morn removed the chip and put it in the holder of his personal
computer. "It would probably be," he thought, "one of the safest places
to keep it." He would put an entry code on it later, so no one else
could activate it but him. He punched in the code for the shipping
information center, and asked what ship was leaving for Hades.
37 "The only ship bound for Hades today," announced the computer, "is
the Wayfarer, private freighter carrying passengers and assorted cargo.
Passenger spaces still available in both noble and common class. The
Wayfarer is a plus six freighter and will make the journey in
approximately four months. Thank you for your call."
38 As the screen went blank, Morn walked towards the door. "Come on,"
he ordered, "we're going up to the ship tending station. " The Guard
was puzzled but followed Morn to the transport beam.
39 At the station Morn simply sat down by an observation window and
watched the Wayfarer. She was a new model freighter that could carry
sixteen cargo pods, not one of
