38 "You're going to leave her?" asked one of the men.
39 "Yes," acknowledged Morn, "we've got it all on tape. We might as
well go. I'll tell my father what we've learned. He can do what he
will."
40 They left the woman sobbing in the chair and headed out of the
building. As they were crossing the roof a man came out of the garage
wearing a Guard uniform. As he came closer, North recognized him and
his hand went to his dagger. Several of the others followed his lead,
but the officer merely walked up to Morn. "Hello, Morn," he greeted,
"you know, don't you?"Morn only nodded. "Going to tell your Father?"
the man continued.
41 Again, Morn nodded. The Officer shrugged. "Well, it was a good
career," he sighed. "I should have said something when we found out,
but she's my mother, and I didn't have the heart. Good luck, Morn. "
The man turned and headed for the elevator.
42 "I don't understand," one of the men remarked, "you're letting HIM
go, too?"
43 "Why not?" asked Morn, "Where could they run?" The men nodded.
44 They got into their flier and as they were taking off, Morn tapped
the Pilot's shoulder. "Swing around to the side of the building the
apartment's on, and hover," he ordered. The Pilot obeyed. They were
barely in position, when a tremendous blast blew out the apartment' s
windows. Scraps of concrete and metal hit the airship but it was
sturdily built and the Pilot quickly righted it.
45 "You knew, didn't you, Morn?" North questioned. "You DO have the
Power to look into men's minds! " Morn didn't say anything but gave the
Pilot a nod to take off.
46 A few hours later Morn had edited the tapes they had made to make
sure only he showed in them. Then, he called his Father, played the
tape North had given him
