later, Morn turned back to the view screen. "We're ready," he announced.
77 "Commence transmission, Communications," ordered North. When the
transmission was completed Morn acknowledged that they had received it.
"Let me know when you transmit," North told him, "Lord's Vengeance,
out."
78 The screen went blank, and Morn sat, confused.
Communications handed him the data chip. "I'm going to my
cabin," he announced, "to look this over."
79 Morn was a very fast reader. He could play a recorded tape at high
speed and absorb all its information. In less than two hours he had
understood the entire transmission. He removed the chip from the
viewer and headed for the auxiliary command deck in engineering. There
were several Junior Officers there, using the facility to run simulated
battle maneuvers.
80 "You'll have to excuse me, gentlemen," Morn requested, "but I have
to use these facilities in private."
81 The Officers cleared the systems, saluted, and left. As soon as they
were outside, Morn opened the communication's console, undid his belt
buckle, opened a secret compartment and removed a frequency chip from
it. He plugged this chip into a spare receptacle in the communication's
console and activated the system. He now had a secret frequency known
only to him and his father, The Lord God.
82 Somewhere in The Palace on Haven a communication's console was now
beeping and a light was flashing. Morn did not have to wait long. His
father answered. "Morn, are you there?" he cried, "Are you all right?
What's wrong?"
83 "I am here," Morn answered, activating the view screen. "Oh, Glory
of Our People, Light of The Worlds. I, Commander Morning Star of your
vessel Son's Pride, must transmit to you information given to me by my
fellow Commander, Northern Star, of The Lord's Vengeance, in-
