North. Taking water from the bowl he wet his
feet, then looked up at North. "With the tears of my shame," he wept,
"I wash the feet of one who is greater than me."
47 He took the towel and wiped North's feet, then ceremonial sandals,
which were the Priest's footgear, were carefully placed on North's
feet. Then, the Priest rose. Taking a robe from another Priest, he
helped North don it. Then, lifting the scarf that North had seen him
wear many times, he held it to the crowd. "Let all approve," he cried,
"let no voice speak against, for Change, himself, has ordered that
which I now do."
48 He put the scarf around North's neck so that it hung down in front
of him. "You bear," he announced, "The Scarf Of The Law, which I once
wore but was undeserving of. You are now The Law. You are now The Joy."
49 The Priest clapped his hands, and another Priest came forward
carrying the Belt. "The Belt Of Justice," announced The Priest, "that
holds in for the people all good things. I put it upon him to whom it
belongs."
50 The Priest clapped his hands again, and another Priest came forward,
holding a small box, which The High Priest opened. "Give me your right
hand," The Priest demanded. As North did so, The Priest took from the
box a Pen and put it in North's hand. "With this," he continued, "Lord
Change wrote The Book Of The Law, The Commands For The People. It
belongs in your hand, for you are now Priest Of Priests, Keeper Of His
Temple, The Maker Of All Laws. That which was mine I surrender to you.
You need but to speak and your word will be obeyed."
51 Bewildered, North heard everyone in The Temple cheering. "Come!"
requested The High Priest, "We must go to The Hall of Counsel and you
must sit over us, that we might hear those words you would speak
concerning the errors we have made in The Teaching Of Lord Change.
Then, my fate must be considered!"
