It is not complete, so I believe The Goddens have
captured him, or, killed him before he could complete the transmission."
14 "Read me the message," The Turner Against ordered.
15 "'Goddens have made major breakthrough in shield tectonics and beam
capability. New shields half again stronger than old ones. Beams now
have half-again more range. Advancements due to new element just
discovered, but element rare. They only have enough for 600 s....'
That's all the message we got."
16 The Turner Against rose. "That means while their weapons would be
more effective against us, ours would be less effective against them.
In essence they have now doubled the range of their weapons."
17 The General Of The Fleet nodded. "I have a feeling," The General
remarked, "what the Agent was trying to tell us is that they only have
enough of the material for 600 ships, and that as soon as they're ready
they plan to attack."
18 "If you had 600 such ships," asked The Turner, "how would you use
them?"
19 "I would leave 200," answered The General, "with my Home Fleet. I
would make the other 400 the spearhead of two massive fleets and strike
directly for the enemy's capitols. Drive through and crush all
resistance, taking their ground before they have time to rally their
forces. If they know we have received this message they may be pushing
their plans forward. We COULD have very little time."
20 "Call the council together," ordered The Turner Against, "I believe
we have some grave decisions to make."
21 The General Of The Fleet nodded. In a couple of hours the Warlocks
and Councilmen were gathered in The Great Hall.
