91 The Lord God was upset when the scouting party
returned. "Why has one of our ships been risked on this useless task?"
he complained. "What business is it of ours whether those that
destroyed this system live or not? They were fools. They did not listen
to the wisdom they had. Why should we do them any favors?"
92 "Because THAT," assured The Voice, "is our nature. We do not do
things merely because it will be of some benefit to us, we do things
according to rather it is good or not. Rescuing these Souls was good,
and well worth the effort."
93 The Lord God shrugged. "Waste your time as you will," he snapped,
"but do not risk our ships. They belong to ALL this Union, not just to
you, alone. Now, shouldn't we be on our way?"
94 "I think we ought to save crystals for awhile," suggested North.
"Let us head for the next system on star drive. It will take a little
longer. We will save the crystals for when the systems are further
apart, and their use more practical."
95 "There is logic in that," agreed The Lord God. "Let us proceed as
you direct."
