night the enemy came; thirty-five planes coming in
low. On their targeting board they plotted each one, alerted the
rockets, and as the enemy came in range they rose skyward.
18 Only ten of the enemy, smoking and damaged, having dumped their
bombs far from their targets, turned and limped for home. In the desert
the ground crews danced around their weapons.
19 "When they get home their leaders aren't going to like the story
THEY'LL have to tell. There'll be far less raids this year," Gray Boar
predicted. His words proved true. It would take the enemy three or four
seasons to find out what was happening to his bombers and come up with
defenses.
20 As Gray Boar was driving back towards Rail, they met a column coming
out of the desert. To his surprise, Mountain Glory was leading then.
They all looked haggard and dirty. "What happened?" Gray Boar asked.
21 "I was in command of an outpost," explained Mountain Glory, "and we
were overrun in a night assault and taken prisoner ...not only us, but
several positions all along our line. We were taken to an enemy camp miles in the desert, but managed to escape."
22 One of the other men jumped down. "Her modesty, Lord, keeps her from
telling the whole story, for which she was touched with The Lords
Power, and led us in our escape."
23 "Then you tell me all," insisted Gray Boar.
24 "When the enemy brought her group in, I was already being
questioned. But they decided interrogating her would be more fun. I
think they had other things in mind besides interrogation because they
ripped off her jacket and shirt.
25 But suddenly, there was a Bright Light. The men in front of her
screamed that their eyes were on fire and they couldn't see. The guards
