43 "Well, I'll tell you the honor you're going to
have," insisted Mountain Glory, "you're going to get in my bed right
there, and go to sleep. I'm going to sleep in this chair. And if you
get out of that bed before I tell you, I'm going to blow your pretty
little butt off, understand?"
44 The girl nodded, and quickly crawled in bed. "In the morning,"
Mountain Glory continued, "I'm going to put you on a train for home
with a ticket and also a letter to your people telling them you didn't
fulfill your mission, and you're NOT to be sent again, or anyone else! In case
you've got some idea of spending some time with some nice young boy,
and going back and saying it's his, I'll check up on you. Do you know
how long you'd spend in Punishment for false representation?"
45 The girl nodded again. "You can't make me go," she snapped,suddenly
getting braver. "There's no Law against it! They tried to make it
illegal, but the Ten Judges declared it was perfectly honorable; as
long as the contracts were proper."
46 "Maybe so," answered Mountain Glory, "but it is unlawful to enter a
restricted area without permission. And don't say you didn't notice
those nice red bands painted on the pavement all around this place! Or,
the red triangle on the gate, or, the red ribbon on the fences. You've
been to school, you know what that means; absolutely no entering
without permission! That's worth about twenty years if I want to press
it. So don't push your luck, sweetie!"
47 The girl looked at her and smiled. "You're in love with him, aren't
you?" she giggled. ''You don't want anybody else to have him."
48 Mountain Glory turned out the light. "Remember she ordered, "don't
get out of that bed!"
49 In the dark Mountain Glory lay thinking. "The little beauty's
