three; his two rivals splitting the rest almost
equally. There was no doubt he had the majority, and as he stood on the
steps of The Speaker's House, taking The Speaker's Oath, the crowds
cheered him wildly. And as he stepped up to the microphone they all
fell silent.
42 "We are," he announced, "at the beginning of a new age. We can only
look forward with wonder, and the only thing that we can be sure of,
is change. But as change comes, we MUST NOT, and, CAN NOT lose hold of
those great things that have been given us in the past.
43 We have done wondrous things because The Lords have always taught
us to be curious, to seek and find the answers to mysteries, not merely
to accept traditional beliefs and traditional ways of doing things.
44 But as we learn new things, we do not destroy the good that has
come before, but build on it, strengthen it, and understand its glory.
If we are great, it is because we stand on the shoulders of giants, who
did not ask what their people could do for them, but asked 'What can I
do for my people?'
45 This should be in the heart of every man and woman to do as They
did, to stand as They stood. That is what The Symbol of The Bread and
The Wine that I took but a few short hours ago, means. Let us never,
ever, lose sight of the heritage of our past as we leap forward to the
wonders of our future!
46 Glory and honor to Those who have Come before, and to Those who
follow in Their Footsteps. When we say we are The Children of The
Lords, it does not mean that we are immature and childlike, obedient
without questioning, it means that we are the Seeds of Their Greatness
that follow after in Their Footsteps.
47 Though we are not exactly like Them, we cannot be, for each age is
different, facing new and wondrous problems. But we can learn from the
wisdom that They used, follow the pattern that They set. And when we do,
