Chapter Three
One evening a little girl asked , "Lord, my mommy says that we all came
from one Great Visitor who came down out of the sky and gave life to
our world, but if that is so, why are there boys and girls, men and
women? Why are we not all men or all women?"
2 "That, dear child," explained Brown Goat, "is a hard thing to answer.
Perhaps our Great Ancestor of so long ago was like me, neither male nor
female, and the great number of years caused his offspring to change
and become as they are now.
3 Or, perhaps what has been said is true, that in every man is a little
woman, and in every woman is a little man. Each of us inside, has a
little bit of our brothers and sisters. None of us are purely male,
nor, are we purely female, but in reality are a little bit of both."
4 One of the little boys looked disgusted. "Yuck!" he exclaimed. "I
never want to be like my sister! She's dumb!" Everyone laughed.
5 "We all," continued Brown Goat, "are dumb at times. But smartness is
not what I am referring to. I am referring to the functions of the
body.
6 You see, why there are male and female is to balance each other, so
that the two parts merge and become one. So that when we make little
ones like you, we take a little spark from each of those parts, put
them together, and make a whole.
7 That's how this little shell of yours is made, this little vessel
that carries your Eternal Spirit. Half of it came from your father,
half of it came from your mother and both gave a little spark that made
it grow.
8 Your Eternal Spirit came to feed on that
