Five
In the summer after the Coming of The Gun Brown Goat worried for the
safety of his people. A few messengers were able to slip by The
Oneness, get to Mp, and come north. Their tales were not encouraging.
2 The Ses, being proud and noble people, refused any offer of help.
They fought bitterly, but Ma fell, Sm fell, and finally Min and Se fell.
3 The Krns however, were not so proud. They welcomed the help of Fr,
and, The Children Of Spirit. And when The Oneness turned toward their
city, they were driven back.
4 The Warlock of Fin, Bay Blossom Hawk, though she had no guns, lured
the enemy into an ambush and after three days of vicious fighting, had
several hundred of the deadly new weapons, and, a great supply of the
powder that made them work.
5 The Oneness withdrew, then instead of trying to go overland again,
landed a huge army on the coast below Fo. They took the defenders by
surprise, overwhelming the city. But most of its people escaped.
6 As they tried to move towards Fr, they found the road blocked by
extensive earthworks, the same to Ftr, and Kr. Again and again they
tried to break through, but Bay Blossom Hawk held them back with heavy
losses on both sides.
7 The enemy themselves, dug in and built earthworks, then shifted their
strength. They seemed particularly determined to take Si, which had now
asked for help from the other lands.
8 After eight weeks of vicious fighting, and with the city in flames,
its defenders retreated, taking its treasure with them, and its women
and children.
No more Sean men would be massacred. No more women and children would be
carried off to be absorbed.
