called upon The Power of The Lords and the woman's spell was broken. The keeper of records told the young man all that had happened and all that the agent had learned.
22 "No wonder," moaned the young man, "she keeps me in her room all day, and journeys out only at night, or, on cloudy days. There is little doubt what she is, and there is only one thing that can be done."
23 He turned to his keeper of records. "I will not return home tonight," he ordered. "Send a servant who does not know the truth and tell her that I have been delayed, and will return in the morning. It is fortunate my other mates have left me. They are a safe distance away. I will stay here in The Temple and prepare. You will have the servants follow my directions exactly."
24 The next day at high sun, the young man returned home. As he entered the kitchen, the servants lifted pots of hot oil from the fireplace, followed him to his new wife's door. The young man opened the door and peeked in. As usual, the woman was sleeping.
25 He took one of the pots and poured the oil on the cushions all around her, then, took the second pot and did the same. Then, telling the servants to leave, he lit a glass lamp, entered the room, and secured the door behind him. Going to the window he signaled those outside.
26 Suddenly the thatched roofing began to fall away and sunlight began to pour into the room. The woman stirred, opened her eyes, and looked up. "What is happening, my beloved?” she asked. Her hand touched one of the oil-soaked cushions. She saw the burning lamp in her mate's hand, and her eyes opened wide, with horror. "What are you doing?" she demanded.
27 The young master smiled. "You know what I am doing!" he insisted. "It has come to an end! It should
