9 Their days passed with joy and for two generations after them, as
usual, The Oneness started the probe again, but The Children of Spirit
kept them at bay.
10 For seventy-six seasons there was relative peace. The Children of
Spirit always kept ahead of The Oneness. First they found a way of
firing their rifles by using tiny caps instead of flints.
11 Then, they discovered that they could make a metal cartridge, put
the cap in the back, and the bullet in the front with the powder inside
the cartridge. They made a rifle that could be loaded by lifting a
chamber at the back of the barrel, putting a cartridge in and locking
the chamber down. This weapon they called a breech loader. With it,
they drove The Oneness from the field.
12 The Priest of Priests promised that they would never make war again,
but there were few in that time that believed his words.
13 But after a generation of peace went by, the people grew careless.
