and their losses had been worse than anything they had expected.
"These people are cowards," cursed The Godden Generals, "they strike from hiding, they attack the defenseless, and the weak. Now they have actually taken some of our people prisoner and are using them to shield their colonies against bombardment."
"We have not wanted," ordered The Lord God, "to destroy their colonies because of their value to us. But such considerations must be set aside. From now on we do not land on any colony until their shelters are totally destroyed."
So again The Goddens started to drive into The Union, but to their horror The Hashons leaped into THEIR territory and began attacking military targets in THEIR colonies.
The Godden Fleet sped home to drive the attackers from their systems, then, sat pondering what to do next. One of The Lord God's most trusted Aides came to him. "My Lord," he began, "we are facing a terribly desperate situation.  Our manpower is stretched to its limits. The Managers of our factories are screaming because so many of our men have been taken to serve in the fleets. They will not even be able to keep up basic production unless they are given labor. It is imperative that we keep some of the enemy's captives and ship them to our factories, as slave labor.  If we do not, The Empire will collapse."
"I do not like," The Lord God cursed, "to give mercy to such disgusting creatures. Never have any rebelled against me so fiercely. But the safety of The Empire is the most important thing. Issue the orders. The young, the strong, male and female, are to be saved, the old, crippled, and useless, exterminated. By their toil shall they be punished for their rebellion against my glory. They will take the lowest, most defiling positions, and free my people for the struggle against their brothers."
