like to know what everybody thinks about you? I
mean everything …..their deepest most secret thought about you?"
209 The Young Speaker turned and started to walk off. Bullet
followed him. He had one question in his mind, but he didn't dare ask
it. But The Young Speaker answered it anyway. "Yes, I know my Hour, I
know my Day. I know exactly how long I have in this world. And with all
my Power I can't change Destiny. I can't get one minute, one second
more."
210 Bullet put his hand on The Young Speaker's shoulder and for a
moment they were just two good friends walking down the street. But
that moment was all The Young Speaker could have, for with a few more
steps they reached the gate of the house and reality returned.
211 "I'd appreciate it," remarked The Young Speaker, "if you don't
speak to the others about what I said. I don't think some of them
realize the extent of my Power. Knowing what you know might bring them discomfort and shame."
212 Bullet nodded. They entered the house. The Young Speaker made his
good-byes and departed. Sweet Blossom Turtle turned to Bullet. "Thank
you for staying,'' she said. "I've had your things moved to the room
next to mine. There's no adjoining door, but MY door is never locked!"
213 Bullet nodded, and they went in to have the evening meal.
