I'm not on fire. I want so much to have his
children, or, the one I'm allowed, anyway. But he says he's too old for children now. What can we do?"
194 "Rebel," answered Bullet, "refuse to do any more work until he
mates with you, and lets you bear his child. If you want something bad
enough, FIGHT for it, even risk loosing it. Sometimes you just have to stand up for
your rights!"
195 Bay Blossom kissed him on the cheek. "I like you!" she laughed,
"You're special!"
196 There was no more need for words. In a while they were asleep, still close to each other. In the morning
Bullet woke her and she left, smiling
back at him. He got up, showered, dressed, and went into the common
room for breakfast.
197 Bright Serpent was standing on the upper platform, the three women
around him. "I never thought you'd do this to me," he was shouting, "it
isn't fair! It's blackmail! I won't have it!"
198 "You can send us away," answered Bay Blossom.
199 "You know I can't do that," continued Bright Serpent, "I don't like
this at all. You know I'm only thinking of your safety, and I don't like to be backed into
anything. But if it's that important to you, very well. I am forced to concede. Your rebellion is
successful! You have won your prize! Now go on, go about your duties.
We will make the arrangements later."
200 The women departed and Bright Serpent came down to join Bullet. "I
have a feeling," he said, "you were responsible for that! But I'm not
really angry. It was bound to come, sooner or later!"
201 Smiling Fox joined them. "I've been making some phone calls," he
announced, "was your Detective disguised as a Warlock and looking for a
prostitute?"
