tle pity," he sighed. He joined the others, put a
fresh clip in his pistol, and opened the outer door. "How many in
there?" he asked their friends.
44 "Just the guard and another man that came in a few minutes ago," one
of them answered.
45 "Go kill them," ordered Bullet. The man nodded, and left to carry
out his work. "Signal the others to come in," Bullet ordered Smiling
Fox. "I want them to sweep the rooms upstairs. Bring the women down.
Tell them to kill any man they find wearing one of these golden keys.
They've all been downstairs. They know what's down there. I'm going up to the manager's apartment."
46 In a few minutes the inside of the building became total confusion,
as The Young Speaker's people took it over. Coming in the main
entrance, and the kitchen, they soon had any guards disarmed, and the
customers gathered up in the bar.
47 As Bullet made his way upstairs, a man stepped out of one room,
wearing a Guardian uniform. "What in The Name of The Lords is going on
here?" the man demanded. "I am The High Guardian in this city. What are
you doing?"
48 As the man fastened his coat, Bullet saw a gold key on his belt. He
brought up his pistol and fired. The man backed into the wall then slid
down it sitting on the floor, shaking. Bullet continued on.
49 The door to the manager's apartment was guarded but the guards were
soon disposed of. One of them nearly earned his pay though, and Bullet
wiped blood from his cheek. He picked up the machine rifle one of the
guards had been holding and burst through the door. There were two more
guards inside, and it took a couple of moments to deal with them. In
the back of the room a man and woman were at a panel in the wall,
stuffing money into a travelling bag. When
