93 Bay Blossom entered, leading the woman from
The Golden Key by the hand. She was wearing one of Bay Blossom's
nightdresses and a robe. "Whether you know it or not," announced Bay
Blossom, "this belongs to you. We've already talked with your lady. She
says when you come home, bring her, and that's an ORDER!"
94 "Now WAIT a minute!" objected Bullet, "I have no right to take her
anywhere."
95 "She's your prisoner," argued Bay Blossom, "and your responsibility.
There's all kinds of prisons. Some of them need no gates or barred
windows. Now stop fighting the inevitable. Accept what has been given
to you. The Lords have Their Reasons." She turned around , stepped
outside the door, and shut it.
96 The woman just stood there looking more afraid than she had been in
the house of pleasure. "Your women are crazy!" she stammered, "They're
totally and completely crazy!"
97 "No they're not," argued Bullet. "They just see things and know
when some things are inevitable. Come here, sit down. I want to read
you some things I've been reading. Maybe you'll understand ALL these
people better. " He picked up The Sacred Writings and began to read to
her the few passages that he knew. When he was done, he closed it.
98 "I'm with you!" the woman agreed. "I should be terrified of you, I
should be terrified of all these people. They could decide to kill me
at any minute, with every right, but I feel freer and safer than I ever
have in my life. Does that make any kind of sense?"
99 Bullet smiled. "It makes all the sense in the world," he answered.
"Come on, let's go to sleep!"
