7 While he was waiting, Bright Serpent read the
notice on the gate "WARNING! THIS FACILITY HOUSES PERSONS THAT ARE
CONSIDERED DANGEROUSLY DISTURBED; ABSOLUTELY NO ADMISSION WITHOUT
PERMISSION. ANY VIOLATION OF THIS RULE IS PUNISHABLE BY A FINE OF THREE
HUNDRED PER CENT AND PUNISHMENT OF THREE YEARS; FURTHER WARNING- ANY
PERSON FAILING TO YIELD WHEN ORDERED TO DO SO BY A GUARD, MAY BE SHOT
WITHOUT FURTHER WARNING."
8 The Guard got off the phone. "We can go into the parking lot," the
Aid announced. "A Guard will meet us there and take us up to the
building."
9 As they walked towards the building the Aide asked Bright Serpent,
"Do you know what Dream is?"
10 "Of course," answered Bright Serpent, "it's a drug that's been
getting popular among The Druggits for several years."
11 "Correct! " agreed the Aide, "it was originally developed
by a well-meaning Witch and Warlock to help retarded people learn.
Unfortunately, it didn't work too well. But others discovered that
strong doses caused vivid hallucinations and it quickly became very
popular among those who seek to escape the borders of reality. Have you
ever heard of the dancer Leaping Swan?"
12 "Heard of her?" gasped Bright Serpent, "I used to idolize her! I
would go for days without food to get enough money to buy a ticket to
one of her performances. Then she stopped dancing."
13 "That was because," explained the Aide, "she had become addicted to
Dream, and could only function in the unreal world the drug created.
Her family struggled with her for several years, trying to get her back
to reality. Finally they stopped her taking the drugs. She had even
started practicing to do more dancing."
14 They were interrupted as they entered the building and went through
another security check. The Guard put down the phone. "The Doctor will meet you at the gate to the
