111 The Guard looked back to the man on the bed.
"Never mind! " she said. A few minutes later a Healer rushed in and
went directly to the man on the bed. "Keep your hands off your
manhood," she ordered, "the burns hurt, but they're not that bad.
You're going to be uncomfortable for awhile, but you'll be all right.
What, in the name of The Darkness happened? How could his clothes be
burned like this and he have only light burns? He should be dead right
now! And who is he? I thought the she-man was in this cell."
112 "That's him! " announced the Guard.
113 The Healer looked at her like she was out of her mind. "I've
examined him a dozen times," she snapped. "He had as much breasts as I
do and absolutely no manhood. That's a perfectly normal man, except for
being scorched!"
114 "But I swear to you," argued the Guard, "it's the same man!"
115 "Well I can't argue now," said the Healer, "I've gotta get him up
to the hospital and dressings on those burns. He ought to be out by
now. " She looked at Bullet's hand. "No worse than a light sunburn. It
doesn't need dressing. Best thing to do is just leave it alone. You two
clear out, so we can get him outta here!"
116 They could hear the Healer muttering behind him. "What a stupid
damn time for a ridiculous joke! This is the she-man! Do they think I'm stupid? Not even The Lords could do
this!"
117 Bullet and the Guard watched the young man being wheeled towards
the elevator. "How did you do it?" asked the Guard.
118 "I didn't," argued Bullet. "I was only the instrument through which
The Power came. I don't believe it any more than she does.
119 Come on," suggested Bullet. "It's getting late. Tell me about the
next prisoner while we're going to his cell."
