BOOK THIRTEEN
THE BOOK OF THE YOUNG
SPEAKER
Chapter One
Now, in the one-thousand-two-hundred-and-twenty-first Season From The
Beginning, in the fourth fortress below The Holy Land that had become a
city in its own right, was born to Gray Fox and his mate Thorn Blossom
Hawk, a boy-child, which they called Little Gray Fox.
2 From the moment of his birth they knew he was a blessed child, for on
his forehead was The Star of Spirit. He was a child well behaved , who
hardly ever cried, and his wisdom soon became obvious.
3 One day, when he was barely two seasons old, his mother found him
laying on the floor with The Holy Books from the altar. "Looking at the
pictures?" she asked.
4 "No, mother," the child answered, looking up, "I read of Those Who
Have Come Before Me, also, to do The Lords Work. There is much for me
to learn, and I have little time. My hours with you shall be few. That
which I am to do, I must do quickly!"
5 Now, his mother was amazed at his words, and told his father, "That
boy frightens me," he admitted, "sometimes, very much."
6 The next Worship Day they were in Temple, and a rich man stood, who
had done much good for the Temple. He began to speak in favor of the new idea that was going
around the Temples, that men and women should abstain from knowing each
other; forego the lusts of the flesh, and concentrate on the
glorification of The Eternal Spirit.
7 After he spoke, a woman rose, agreeing with him. No one said anything
against this philosophy until suddenly, Little Gray Fox jumped from his
mother's lap, ran from the children's place, jumping up on the platform
