Finally, back! There were enough news stories
out there in my categories to write about! First, Oprah Winfrey
continues to do good deeds and please God. She was eating dinner
on the patio with some friends at a really expensive restaurant the
other day when a homeless man named Eddie asked her if she would give
him a bowl of soup. Oprah asked if they could get him some money
and, a meal. The restaurant staff brought him a "feast" and one
of Oprah's friends gave him a wad of cash! Bless you Oprah!
I hope Eddie did something positive with the money. Maybe Oprah
will do a follow up on this.
Looks like Sarah Palin is continuing to tell off
Obama, this time because The Labor Department is trying to come up with
new child labor laws to limit "certain types of agricultural
work." She says it would stop kids from helping their parents out
of their family farms. According to The Labor Department it would
not. It would only prevent kids under 16 from working in
dangerous situations for employers that are not family, like
tending tobacco crops due to health concerns, driving tractors without
rollover protection, or working inside grain silos and bins.
Republicans last month "introduced bills that would preempt the
regulations" and some Democrats in the agricultural states are
supporting them. Sounds confusing to me, and it's stuff that
could easily be twisted if The Democrats wanted to stir things up about
an issue, one of the things they're good at. Too many loopholes.
I of course would trust The Republicans ideas more than The
Democrats. Once again we'll have to wait and see.
The Catholic Church in Indiana fired a
teacher from their Roman Catholic School because she had in vitro
fertilization and it is against Church policies. Her lawyer says
she wasn't a religious teacher, she wasn't ordained she wasn't even
aware of the doctrine she violated. The diocese says that
teachers are required to abide by Catholic tenets and "serve as morale
examples." Though we don't fully agree with this, we have to say
we agree with the Church on this one. Also if someone doesn't
like the way the Church does things they should go work somewhere
else. It's their right to enforce their rules.
Last thing today, I have to say John McCain is
mistaken when he says the "War On Women" is imaginary and conjured by
Democrats. However both Republicans and Democrats have tried to
stop legislations being passed that would help women. Something
my husband will not permit.
