Her owner himself, led her out and laid his own garment upon her back. They sat Jesus upon her.
The people went before Him casting their cloaks upon the street, or, taking down the branches from the fig trees and laying them before Him.
A great crowd followed after them singing God's praises and saying "Blessed be The King that comes in The Name Of The Lord. Peace in Heaven! Glory to The Highest!"
Now a group of Pharisees and priests came out crying, "Rabbi! Rebuke your disciples. For if the Romans hear them calling you King, they may declare a riot and fall upon us!"
Jesus rebuked them harshly, saying, "I tell you that if every person here should hold their place the stones would immediately begin to cry out!"
The Pharisees and priests were enraged, for they knew He spoke of prophecy pertaining to God.
When Jesus beheld the city He wept over it, saying, "If you had known, even you, at least in this, your day, the things which belong to you peace.
But now they are hidden from your eyes. For the day shall come upon you when your enemies shall pass over your trenches, surround you all about, and keep you in on every side.
They shall lay you to the ground, and, your children within you. They shall not leave one stone upon another because you knew not the time of your visitation."
He went into the temple, again cast out the sellers, the coin changers, and said to them, "It is written, My House is a House of prayer. You have made it a den of thieves."
He taught daily in the temple. The priests and Scribes sought to destroy Him. But they were afraid of the people who were always very close to Him.
Now, it came to pass that as He taught one day The Chief Priest came to Him and cried out, "By whose authority do you do these things? Who is it that gives you your authority?"
"I will ask you one thing....answer me. The baptism of John; was it from Heaven or, of man?"
Then they reasoned with themselves. "If we say from Heaven, He will say 'then why did you not believe him?' But if we say 'of man,' the crowd will stone us. For they loved John and believed him a prophet."
So they answered they did not know. "Then neither will I," Jesus answered, "tell you by the authority I do these things."
The High Priest knew they could not outwit Him. Then Jesus spoke this parable.
"A certain man planted a vineyard, left it in the charge of his steward, and went into a far country for a long time.
Then at the end of the season he sent a servant to the steward that he should be given the profit of the vineyard. But the steward beat him and sent him away empty.
The owner sent another servant. They not only beat him, but used him shamefully then sent him away.
A third time he sent a servant but this man did not return at all!
Then said the owner of the vineyard, "I will send my beloved son and ten of his best servants. When they see him with such a number they will receive him and make recompence."
But the steward and his friends, when they saw the young man, plotted against him, saying, 'This is the HEIR. Let us kill him, then the inheritance will be ours.'
They pretended to greet him warmly, then killed him and his companions.
When the lord of the vineyard heard this, he rose up all of his kinsmen, came unto his steward, and all his friends, slew not only them, but their wives, sons, and daughters as well. For the lord of the vineyard had loved his son above all else."
Now, when the people heard this they knew He was speaking of the priests and Himself, and they cried out, "God forbid! God forbid!"
He silenced them and answered "What is it that is written 'The stone which the builder rejects, the same becomes the head of the corner.'
Whoever falls upon that stone shall be broken, but on whoever it shall fall, it will grant to him its power."
Now, the priests sought then and there, to lay hands on Him, but they feared the people. They watched Him, and sent spies who pretended to be just men, that they might find evidence to deliver Him into the authority of the governor.
They asked Him, "Rabbi, we know you are a man that teaches rightly. You teach the people nothing but the true Way Of God. Tell us, is it lawful for us to give tribute to Ceasar or not?"
Now, Jesus perceived their wickedness and asked of them "Why do you tempt me? Show me a penny. Whose image and symbol is upon it?"
They answered, "Ceasar's."
Then He said to them, "Render unto Ceasar that which is Ceasar's, and unto God the things that be God's."
Though they would have taken hold of Him but for the people, they marveled at His answer and held their peace.
Now came to Him certain of the Sadducees which denied that there is any resurrection. They asked Him, "Rabbi, Moses wrote 'If any man's brother died having a wife and he died without children that his brother should enter into his wife, and raise up children for his brother.' There were, therefore, seven brothers and the first took a wife then died without children.
The second took her, also, and died childless.
