The Spirits Speak
Part 2

13. Did you give a group of blind, old, and handicapped peasants nice clothes, invite them to a house, give them a big meal and burn the house down when they were all drunk?

A. I did NOT burn the house down! It is one of those situations in history where someone tried to do a good turn and then got blamed for something evil. I will admit I had no use for beggars, especially fakers. I'd just as soon get them on a pike as a murderer! But when I would find those in need and put them to my service it was a benefit to everyone. The incident you are speaking of was an accident. Of course with my reputation it was immediately thought I was responsible.

14. Did you have a sexual perversion?

A. I do not know what is considered a sexual perversion. A woman could often win the life of her family if she was pleasing to me. I was known to have a young girl now and then, but I would not consider it was any kind of a perverted way.

15. Were you in any way impotent?

A. I would say, no. I enjoyed the act quite often, though I did not seem to produce too many children. I had no difficulty in becoming aroused.

16. What did you feel about your brother Radu betraying you during your fight against the Turkish Sultan?

A. It is hard to speak ill of blood but my brother was not much of a man. He gained his position by selling his body to anyone of power that would accept it.

17. Did your concubine kill herself by jumping out the window of your castle after reading a warning from an enemy ally of their coming attack?

A. Not to my knowledge! As far as I know the lady lived long after me, though I believe using another name.

18. When you were first arrested were you imprisoned for 12 years or under house arrest in Hungary?

A. To me there is little difference between imprisonment and house arrest. Let me just say I was not alowed to come and go as I wished.

19. While in jail did you torture and or impale mice and birds?

A. When my enemies tell such ridiculousness as this I find it hard to believe that men actually put it down in historical record as believable.

20. What do you feel about the Serbian-Bosnian situation today, since you fought so much for Bosnia?

A. I wish I had an army with which to punish these Serbs and to restore order. I think I would make quick work of such cowards.

21. What happened to your first wife and children?

A. They went away or I sent them away. It is hard to remember how and I lost track of them. I heard much later that they had died of some disease or were poisoned. They never made contact with me again even in The Spirit Realm. And I have never been one to push an issue.

22. Is it true you were killed by an assassin hired by the Turks then beheaded in a clearing in the Vlasia Forest?

A. Well, let me put it this way- it took more than one. And sad to say they were not hired by the Turks. Yes, they did take my head to prove to their traitorous employers that they had done their dastardly deed.

23 Did you bury jewels by a river after you'd built a dam to divert the water?

A. No. I considered such efforts folly.

24. What do you think of the Dracula books by Radu Florescu & Ramond T. McNally that try to portray you as you really were, separating fact from fiction?

A. I consider them an honest effort and thank them for their courtesy.

25. What do you think of Bram Stoker's novel "Dracula" and all the vampire movies?

A. Blah!
