The Home Altar

The necessity of a home altar is quite apparent. It serves two different purposes, as a focal point for prayer in the home, and a place for The Power Of The Lords to gather and radiate.
A Home Altar can be quite simple or elaborate, depending on the financial resources of those arranging it, but there are three things that must be present;

1. A candle holder

2. Pictures of Our Departed Or Living Ancestors.

3. A candle.

This should include to the left side of the altar, pictures of one's father and his parents. To the right side of the altar pictures of one's mother and her parents. This is all that is needed for a basic altar. It is appropriate to burn a candle continuously, but if this is financially impossible, the candle should be lit for morning and evening prayers, and if possible, burned all day on Sacred Days. This set up can be arranged either on a table set aside especially for this purpose, or, if funds do not permit, a bureau top or any appropriate flat surface will suffice.
In addition to this basic altar, these additions can be included;
A symbol of The Faith may be placed over the center of the altar area and beneath this, a picture of one's favorite Sacred Teacher. Beneath the altar or on it, may be kept one's family history. If at all possible, one should learn as much about one's ancestors as possible, excluding those unworthy of worship and emphasizing those that are.
In the case of a married couple, the photographs of the parents should be displayed side by side with the man's on the outside to the left and the woman's on the outside to the right. If at all possible, the altar should be situated so when one is looking at it, they are facing north. If one possesses Sacred Writings they may be placed behind the candle holder on the altar. If one has made a sacred Staff, a man's should be placed by the left side of the altar, and a woman's on the right, in a standing position with the smallest end down.
