I want to start today's message with something I'd never thought I'd read about, sexist pants!   A woman in England, Emma Barnett, went to wash her boyfriend's pants recently, when she discovered on turning them inside out, the washing instructions had a very sexist comment.  Under the actual instructions it read "OR Give It To Your Woman.  It's Her Job."    Emma was really bothered by this.  She is the editor of a major British newspaper "The Telegraph,"  so she got an article published in it about what happened.    When she went to Twitter and tweeted about the incident with its own hashtag, #sexistpants several people told her to lighten up, and, get a life.  She got a message from the store where her boyfriend bought the pants,  Madhouse, in which they apologized, told her they didn't know about the offending tag.  They will be more careful in the future.  Some people think this was  an awesome marketing tool, bringing in more and more publicity for them.   Whatever the plan was their web site is shut down for maintenance.  Also the clothing store couldn't be contacted for comments.   Way to go Emma!   I'm so pleased she wrote the article about the offending item!  More people need to take action when they see something offensive so it has more chances of being stopped.
I'm glad I'm not the only one that makes spelling mistakes  However you don't expect huge companies to do it in their promotions.   I see Starbucks recently opened their first ever juice bar.  They had a huge sign up in one store (I hope it was just one!) in which they spelled the word vegetables wrong!  Of course this was soon removed.  I guess this didn't effect their sales.  One restaurant where my husband worked used to deliberately misspell words on its signs out front.  When people came in to tell them they usually stayed for lunch! It's an old trick.
It appears the mystery of Amelia Earhart has even the most unlikely fans interested, one of them being Hillary Clinton.  I'm shocked that I'd ever like anything Hillary did!  Amelia, her plane and copilot disappeared during her around the world flight 75 years ago.  However now there's a picture of what may be her landing gear taken months after her disappearance near the island of Nikumaroro, which is now a part of Pacific nation of Kiribati.  Apparently the state department has done an enhanced analysis of the picture so working along with historians in July for ten days will spend time searching for the plane.  Hillary is cheering the researchers on because the state department and other federal agencies had sponsored Earhart's flight.  She will be looking forward to hearing bout the outcome of their search.  Unfortunately the people who believe Amelia and Fred Noonan survived and lived on the island for a time are mistaken.  Our interview with the spirit of Amelia Earhart was one of the first ones we ever did.  Here's a link to it so if you like you can see what she said about what happened herself.  I also am anxious to see what the researchers will turn up.
