everyone got this latest discovery concerning my husband's increased
pain and confusion, also an explanation of how it'll be taken care
of. I know he would want me to get this out as soon as

Just a quick message today with an update on my husband Speaker Gerald
Polley's medical condition. Wednesday I got a call from the Rehab
Center where he's staying at 4:30 am. It was the nurse telling me
she had to send my husband back to the ER at the hospital. He had
more pain, and had a hard time taking his medication, also he was
combative. I couldn't get a cab at that hour so called the ER.
They told me he was coming back to the Center. It was the same
issue he had when he went there before. A blood clot blocking
things up.
I had a ride coming to take me there
before 8 a.m. to spend the day. I got there just as he was
getting back from the ER in the ambulance. When they tried to put
him back in his room he became combative so they had to take him back
to the ER. When they were bringing him down the hall he didn't
even recognize me and stared straight ahead. The nurse gave me a
ride to the hospital.
When they got him back to
the ER, they determined his main problem with the hallucinations was
caused by the fact he had been over medicated with pain
medication. The doctor had increased one last week and decreased
another. He had trouble with the increased one when he went to
Bangor for his first chemotherapy. They put him on a non narcotic
pain medicine and it worked like a charm. It will take 12 hours
for the bad stuff to get out of his system. He became very
agitated while I was there and had to have his wrists tied to the bed.
Anyway after a while they took a chest x ray and did an
ultrasound. The doctor determined that all his increased pain has
been caused by an infected gall bladder and a gall stone, not the
cancer! He's got to go to the Bangor hospital to have the gall
stone removed, then they'll treat the infection with antibiotics.
That will happen today and I'm going with him. I don't know how,
possibly in the ambulance, then where I'll stay is another matter. We
don't know how long that will take.
I was
shocked to hear that he may have had a small heart attack. They're
still trying to determine that from the tests.
I am bringing my lap top with me so I will be able to keep everybody
updated on what's going on. I can't wait to see Gerald's
improvement after the narcotics wear off! And especially after
the gall bladder is taken care of. Like they say, he'll still have the
cancer, however he should be a lot more comfortable, not confused, then
be working on serving God and continuing his campaign the best he
can to save the future!
