An Open Letter From Speaker Linda Polley

Greetings!
It’s hard to believe we’re back here already with the last blog post of the year! Seems like the days just flew by! I don’t have much to write about this time but wanted to get my two cents in so to speak for the end of the year.
We’ve heard about this possibility for years now it appears that next year it’s actually happening in several states. People who use food stamps will no longer be able to buy soda, candy or energy drinks with them. I guess these states will be able to ask for a waiver so residents using food stamps can get the banned items worry free. The article I read also stated many people are applying for a waiver. I hoped the new rules about this would never happen but just as I started to relax. It’s true that those in charge of the SNAP program are just trying to help us stay healthy but I personally think this is too much. I hope something happens that they’ll change their minds and their suggestions won’t go through.
Also I read about people who do not like and or support President Trump are cancelling their events at the former Kennedy Center because President Trump changed it’s name to The Trump-Kennedy Center For The Performing Arts. However apparently an official board voted on renaming the building. It’s up to the people of course what they do but my opinion is I think it’s kind of childish to do something like that. But then again it will certainly make the board members who did this stand up and take notice. Well whatever happens. But how unfortunate the performers planning events there will be losing out. I’m sure some of them have cancelled their shows or whatever there too. As usual we’ll just have to see what happens.
On the home front I had a good Christmas. It was a relaxing day with my friends here. I had a wonderful ham dinner at my friend’s apartment, and a chance to visit with my other friend/neighbor a while there too. I received a lovely diamond painting from one of them featuring two humming birds and a flower to keep me occupied for some time. I also got a pair of Christmas socks and some chocolates from my friend down the hall. Also I got the most Christmas cards ever! I was able to get some last minute to give to everyone in the building.
However I must confess, I was in such a hurry to get my last blog post online before midnight last month I completely forgot for the first time ever, to mention the fact that it was our good friend John Lennon’s birthday on December 9th. I am forever grateful for his Heavenly efforts to help save the world, which has kept it going better than it would have been otherwise. I give thanks once again that he has guided me and helped me keep going throughout the years since my late husband Gerald passed away. I have faith that he’ll be with me as long as I exist in the material world. Speaking of this it’s hard to believe this July 14th I’ll be 75 years old! I’m still keeping everything crossed I get to be 100, as long as I’m fairly good mental and physical health, which for now seems to be the case. He is definitely a very special old soul!
I also forgot to put up a digital Christmas card for the first time ever. Things have really been crazy around here with personal stuff like bills, etc. I’m sure I’ll be able to do these things next year no problem.
Well, I guess that’s it for now. I hope everyone has a safe and happy new year, and since all the rest I can think of is negative from the news, I will end this here. Until next year bless all my readers.
